Material Selection & Metallurgical Integrity

The performance of a precision shaft is dictated by its base material. We don’t just “order steel”—we source specific alloys suited for high-torque and high-wear environments, ensuring full traceability with Material Test Reports (MTRs).

High-Torque Alloy Steels:Ā 4140/4340: Our go-to for drive shafts requiring high fatigue strength and toughness.

Nitralloy 135 Mod: Preferred for shafts requiring extreme surface hardness (via nitriding) while maintaining a ductile core to prevent snapping under shock loads.

Corrosion-Resistant Alloys:Ā 300 & 400 Series Stainless: Critical for polymer extrusion components handling corrosive resins or wash-down environments.

17-4 PH: For applications needing the corrosion resistance of stainless with the high strength of an alloy steel.

Tool Steels & Specialty Metals:Ā D2, H13, P20, Inconel, Hastalloy: Utilized for specialized shaft ends or components subjected to extreme heat and abrasion.

Technical Processing:Ā Stress Relieving, Heat Treating, Nitriding, Plating, Precision Grinding.

Traceability: Every shaft we produce is backed by verified heat-lot documentation to ensure consistent performance across production runs.

Dimensional Tolerances: We maintain concentricity and rotational accuracy within .0005” TIR.

Surface Finish: Precision grinding capabilities to achieve finishes as fine as 8 Ra on bearing and seal surfaces.

Straightness Verification: Critical inspection for long-bed shafts and gundrilled components to ensure zero-vibration operation.

Bore & Internal Integrity: Specialized borescope inspection and gauge verification for all gundrilled and honed IDs.
